The 75th Anniversary of
Mantel Machine Products
The story of the company is one of true entrepreneurial spirit, beginning with Adolf Mantel. Before the first machine was ever turned on, his diverse background—from owning a turkey farm in Pardeeville, owning a jewelry store, to working as an inspector for Briggs and Stratton—showed a man determined to build something of his own. That dream took root in 1951, in a garage with a single Brown & Sharpe “OOG machine” and his wife, Mickey, by his side. After a period of rapid growth, Adolf’s son, Alvin, joined the business in 1954 and, by 1976, became President, guiding the company with hard work and dedication, supported by his wife, Pat, who stood by his side over the years. His brother, Bob, joined him in 1967 after serving in the Army. To solidify the company’s future after several moves in Milwaukee and Butler, Alvin & Bob oversaw construction of the current Menomonee Falls building in 1979.
The company entered its third generation in 2007 when Alvin entrusted the leadership to his children, Dale, Dawn, and Dean. Thanks to years spent working alongside their father and uncle, they were fully prepared to uphold the legacy and tackle the challenges ahead.
A family succession plan was successfully implemented in 2021. Dale and his wife, Arleen, assumed ownership to secure the company’s future for their son, Brandon, who is poised to become the fourth-generation owner.
Today, Brandon and Arleen are excited about the future and are focused on making improvements that will benefit the company. Strategic investments in state-of-the-art equipment and Lean practices are driving the shop’s modernization.
For 75 years, Mantel Machine Products has demonstrated resilience, a commitment to manufacturing, and the strength of family. We honor the legacy of Adolf, Mickey, Alvin, Pat, Bob, Dale, Dawn, Dean, and every dedicated employee who has shaped Mantel Machine Products. Together, they all successfully steered the company through challenging economic times, fierce competition, and the rapid globalization brought on by technology.
