Mantel Machine has just purchased their 2nd Hanwha Swiss machine. Like the first one, the second is equipped with live tooling for cross drilling and tapping, off-center face drilling, and milling. It also has the Sub-spindle for picking off and back working. In addition to everything that the first one has, we made the decision to tool this one up with high-pressure coolant, angled head drilling attachment, and chip conveyor. Our first Hanwha has a max capacity of 20mm. For this one, we upgraded to a 35mm machine. It really opens the door to a wider variety of parts that can run through it. Having the ability to pick-up operations that would have otherwise been secondary, and the high quality work that these machines put out, will keep Mantel Machine Products on the cutting edge in machining precision parts.
As a job shop, our main concern was to stay as versatile and efficient as possible. The TC-32BN is a pallet-changing machine so we are able to load and unload parts while the machine is cutting chips. The worktable and working envelope are bigger than any of the other 30 taper machines we have. This will allow us to run larger parts, fixtures holding more parts, and even keep repeat setups in the machine while we run other jobs. The machine will hold 40 tools in a chain style magazine. That is more than enough to keep repeat jobs set up as well as accommodate new, more intricate work. The TC-32BN also comes with a 16,000 RPM, high-pressure coolant thru spindle. This is yet another tool to boost quality and efficiency and keep us moving forward with the times.
